Join Us: Values and Opportunities

Sea Cadets offers hands-on learning through activities, both on and off the water—it’s a refreshing change from screens and indoor routines.

The Sea Cadet Values

The platform we offer is built on the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy. It inspires our work and commitment to supporting young people today.

Commitment. To do what I say I will
Courage. To do what I know is right
Honesty and Integrity. To tell the truth and be a good person
Loyalty. To be faithful to those who value and support me
Self-Discipline. To do my best and do what I must
Respect. To be inclusive, appreciate others and considerate of all

Your Journey With Us

Sea Cadets Locally

Bridlington Sea Cadets meet once a week on Fridays, at the Drill Hall on Swindon Street, Bridlington 6:45 until 9pm. During the sailing season, we plan to sail on another night during the week and at weekends.

How we are funded

Each sea Cadet unit is a charity in its own right and fundraises to support its activities. This means that if you donate to us, that donation is spent on local cadets and you are making a difference to young people in your local area.

We don’t want anyone to miss out

Sea cadets pay a small subscription fee monthly and contribute to external skills training but it is our intention that no one misses out because they cannot afford it and bursaries are available for many courses. Our unit sailing sessions and in house training sessions are free.

Junior Sea Cadets

Junior Sea Cadets is our entry level programme for young people ages 10-12. The programme offers junior sea cadets a fun, hands on learning experience that encourages them to learn skills they can build upon, during their time with the Sea Cadets and supports their transition to becoming a senior cadet post their 12th birthday.

Senior Sea Cadets

After there 12th birthday, as Senior Sea Cadets, the full range of opportunities become available. As they progress, each rank opens up more experiences to try. These include Camps, Training events, Competitions, Offshore sailing, BTECs and DofE.

Volunteers

At 18, cadets muster out. They have the option to return to the unit as volunteer staff. We are also looking for adults willing to roll up their sleeves and get involved in both uniformed and non-uniformed roles.

Sea Cadets Nationally

We are a national charity working across several UK sites and operating out of six areas.

We deliver national cadet training through our six boat stations and six national training centres from Port Edgar in Scotland to our head office in London as well as cross our offshore fleet of five vessels. Our dedicated teams, made up of 200 employees support 400 local units across the UK with assets, funding and vital training.
